The entrance façade showing extensive cracking, damaged plaster, and areas of coating failure around the columns and windows.
The restored entrance façade following crack and plaster repairs, renewed window sealing, priming, and repainting for a clean, weather-resistant finish.
The entrance façade at Gordons Sweets, in Consani Industrial Park, Elsie’s River, had developed visible cracking across the rendered panels and corner pillars, along with areas of coating failure and deteriorated window seals. If left untreated, these defects could allow moisture penetration and further deterioration of the façade. iKapa was brought in to repair the cracking and plaster, renew the window seals, and repaint the façade for a clean, weather-resistant finish.
The entrance façade was pressure-cleaned and prepared. Cracks and damaged plaster were repaired, and the old sealant around the windows was removed and replaced with a durable flexible sealant. All exposed repair areas were primed before the façade was finished with two coats of exterior paint. The project took approximately one week, completed in June 2026.
This was a focused façade-restoration project addressing both the appearance of the entrance and the vulnerable areas around the windows. Cracks, damaged plaster, and deteriorated window seals need to be repaired before repainting — proper preparation helps prevent moisture penetration and lets the new coating last longer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What causes cracking like this on a commercial building's exterior? +
Usually it's thermal movement in the render or substrate — expansion and contraction over time concentrates stress at corners, window heads, and roof lines, which is exactly where it shows up first.
Will the repaired patches be visible under the new paint? +
No — once the crack is properly raked out, patched, and re-screeded flush with the surrounding surface, a full recoat over the whole façade blends it in completely.
How long does an exterior repaint like this take for a building this size? +
For a single entrance façade with a handful of crack repairs, it typically runs about a week, as it did here — depending on drying time between the repair and paint stages.
